Salma Hayek

Her career started in Mexico in the telenovela Teresa, where she was a lead in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) and the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) which earned her an Ariel Award nomination. In films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999) In 1999, she quickly established herself as a leading actress in Hollywood. Hayek's portrayal as painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002) that she also wrote was the first Mexican actress to be recognized for the Academy Award for Best Actress[6] and additionally earned her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. In subsequent years, Hayek focused more on filmmaking while also appearing in the action-centered pictures Once Upon a Time in Mexico
